WSI Selected by Bureau of Land Management National Interagency Fire Center for Lightning Detection Data Services
WSI lightning data to assist with United States wildfire management
Andover, MA, January 14, 2010 - WSI (Weather Services International) today announced that it has been selected by the Bureau of Land Management National Interagency Fire Center (BLM/NIFC) to provide United States Precision Lightning Network data as part of the BLM Lightning Detection Data Services effort. As part of the BLM contract, WSI’s lightning data will be disseminated to Federal, state and local government Wildland Fire Management agencies, who aid in locating and suppressing wildland fires and supporting research in these areas. The Bureau of Land Management supports Wildland Fire Management through the purchase and display of commercial lightning detection data.
